Your questions about cartridges
Are Wikeeps cartridges compatible with Coravin?
The cartridge format as well as the thread are identical. However, Coravin uses a plastic end cap as a sealing system which you must retrieve from the original cartridge. Once this black adapter has been recovered and screwed onto the Wikeeps cartridge, the operation is identical.
How many bottles can I tap with one gas cartridge?
The quantity of bottles varies between 3 and 5 depending on the pressure exerted on the trigger and the speed of service. The average capacity is 3 bottles. This allows you to serve at least 18 standard-sized glasses!
How do we know that a gas canister is empty?
If pressure on the pistol grip no longer pushes wine into your glass, the cartridge is empty. Without altering your wine, a cartridge can be replaced without risk when a bottle is not completely finished. If the pistol is detached from the central cupola, it is enough to operate a pressure on the handle and to hear or not a hissing to see if there is still gas.
Before throwing away a cartridge, it is recommended to completely empty it by pressing the handle before removing it from the tank, this is without danger. The gases come from the atmosphere, so there are no ecological and health risks.
What should I do to change cartridges between two bottles, or to change bottles while keeping the same cartridge?
Before changing the cartridge, check that the current cartridge is empty, ensuring that the wine no longer rises in the glass. If this is not the case, empty it using the gun, according to the above procedure. It is no problem to switch from one bottle to another with the same cartridge. It is preferable to use the gas cartridge recommended in the typology of each color of wine, as explained in the product recommendations.
In the event of a shortage of certain types of gas, another type of cartridge from the Wikeeps range can be used while benefiting from good quality conservation. However, it is recommended to respect the recommendations indicated on the cartridge boxes.
What do we do with empty cartridges after use?
The steel cartridges are recyclable in selective sorting with household metals such as tin cans.
What is the lifespan of a cartridge?
If the cartridge is impacted, it is advisable to use it within six months. If the cartridge is not impacted, you must refer to the expiry date indicated on the box.
