You will find in these Frequently Asked Questions all the answers to the questions you can ask yourself about the Wikeeps system.

Wikeeps® System

How to properly serve the wine into the glass to obtain a quality service ?
Place the glass in contact with the pouring spout, or at most 10 cm above, to avoid splashing. A jet that is too long can slightly foam the wine on the surface by the pressure of the flow.
What must be done to maintain it properly ?
To ensure total hygiene, the gooseneck spout is easily cleaned with water using a small brush provided in the Prestige Box. The material used is of very high quality, it does not absorb odors and does not deteriorate over time. Assembled or not, it is recommended to clean it after each end of bottle or change of wine color.
How to ensure an effective air vacuum to avoid a rapid oxidation of quiet or effervescent wine ?
The pressure of the finger on the handle of the gun pushes a food gas into the bottle, pressure is exerted on the surface of the wine and allows pouring the contents into the glass. This injection keeps the wine under a protective atmosphere to allow the aromas of your wine to be preserved and protected for several weeks
How do we serve the wine at the right temperature ?
This does not change your habits: white, rosé, sweet, sparkling, always slip into a refresher or ice bucket to quickly and maintain a lower temperature. It is also stored in modern large compartment refrigerators. Ideal for immediate service at the right temperature, with the exception of reds that use between 15 and 18 °C. It is recommended to store it vertically in the bottle compartments. It is advisable to keep the bottles vertically to ensure a perfect seal.
What happens if I forget to put the preservative cap on the spout after use ?
This preservative has a dual purpose: it serves both as an anti-drip and prevents oxidation for the small part of wine that remains in the gooseneck. In the event of absence, the small area of wine in the pouring spout may oxidize. In the long term, the benefits of Wikeeps® will be reduced . It is therefore recommended to place the cap at the end of the day of use.
Is the wine already decanted when it flows out of the spout ?
No, Wikeeps® is not intended to replace the noble step of decanting. To sublimate the great wines, it is advisable to continue to decant them for a good aeration at least 1 hour before the tasting so that they can express their best potential.
What changes in my pleasure to decant old vintages ?
Nothing, on the contrary, by gradually extracting the desired quantity to be decanted, this will allow you not to lose the altered wine at the bottom of the carafe. The smaller the amount will be in your carafe, the faster the wine will open. The wine is always faster in a carafe than in an open bottle because the oxygen intake is stronger. Adding a cap to a carafe never ensures a good seal. When the Wikeeps® is in its use position, without removing it from its original bottle, the wine can be decanted normally per dose, while still retaining the benefit of the intact decanting.
Can we combine the Wikeeps® system with a fast decanting process ?
Yes, there are today more modern methods than the carafe to air the wine quickly. Powerful accessories based on the Bernoulli tube system are effective. The principle is based on the technique of fluids, this allows to bring the right amount of air in the right time, allowing your wine to breathe instantly. It reveals a better bouquet, intensified aromas and a softer finish. It’s quick and easy. The faster the speed of a fluid, the lower the pressure in the fluid. When the wine passes through this tube, the speed of the wine is accelerated and therefore the pressure is decreased.

The pressure difference makes it possible to mix the wine with the return air, which allows a perfect aeration. For decant experts, this principle combines perfectly with the Wikeeps® so as not to salivate in front of your carafe until your nectar fulfills all its promises.

Cartridges

How many bottles can I draw with a gas cartridge ?
The number of bottles can vary between 2 and 4 bottles according to the use. The average consumption is one cartridge for 3 bottles. This allows you to serve up to 18 standard size glasses !
How can we know that a gas cartridge is empty ?
If the pressure on the handle of the gun no longer pushes the wine into your glass, it means that the cartridge is empty. Without altering your wine, a cartridge is replaced without risk when a bottle is not completely finished. If the gun is detached from the central dome, it is sufficient to press the handle and hear a whistle to see if any gas remains.

Before disposing of a cartridge, it is recommended to empty it completely by pressing the handle before removing it from the tank, this is safe. The gases come from the atmosphere, so there are no ecological and health risks.

What should I do to change cartridges between two bottles or to change the bottle with the same cartridge ?
Before changing the cartridge, check that the cartridge is empty, ensuring that the wine does not rise in the glass. If it is not, empty it with the gun, according to the above procedure. There is no problem moving from one bottle to another with the same cartridge. It is preferable to use the recommended gas cartridge in the typology of each wine color, as explained in the product recommendations.

In case of stock shortage of certain types of gas, another kind of cartridges of the range Wikeeps can be used while enjoying a conservation of good quality. However, it is recommended to observe the recommendations indicated on the boxes of cartridges.

What happens to empty cartridges after use ?
The steel cartridges are recyclable in sorting with the household metals type can.
What is the life of a cartridge ?
If the cartridge is impacted, it is advisable to use it within three months. If the cartridge is not impacted, you must refer to the expiry date indicated on the box.
